I’m so awkward at speaking Nepali in a professional or formal manner when talking to people that aren’t family or family friends. I mess up my “you” and switch between hajur and tapai and mix in English because I just don’t know how to politely say some words in Nepali (as in I have to think about it; doesn’t come fluently). I start off with hajur because that’s what I’ve always called anyone I know (as in family and family friends) but then I realize that I don’t actually know this person that well so I try to switch to tapai and then it just gets awkward because I’ve already used hajur to address them. It’s especially awkward when dealing with people that seem to be around my age but they might be a bit older. Do I go in with a timi? Or tapai? (Which is already odd for me because I never use tapai). It’s tricky because in the language you want to be polite but not too polite I guess?

Hello what does this mean? ki mu ke kusbu yek nasa ban gaya? Thank you This isn’t Nepali. Sounds like Hindi or some sort of a Hindi influenced dialect. I’ll post this publicly so my followers can correct me of I’m wrong. Basically means: “Has the nice smell of the mouth (could mean sweet words…I’m just doing a literal translation) turned into an addiction”. I think it’s not a literal sentence. It means to ask if someone has become addicted to someone else’s sweet words.

| About MeI grew up in a small town helping my parents on their farm. There I developed my love for nature and a desire to explore. Now I travel around the world photographing nature. InterestsI love to travel. I have been everywhere, from Alaska to Zimbabwe. For every trip I keep a travel log of my adventures and capture the world as I see it. Check out my photo gallery to get a glimpse into where I have been. And drop me a line if want to find out more. I always love to hear from fellow travelers. |
I am looking for my next big adventure. There are still many places I want to visit and even more to which I want to return. The camera is charged up and my backpack is packed; drop me a line if you know where I should go next.
