Nepal: Donations

nepal:

Here are a couple trusted organizations you can donate to. Only donate to trusted sources as there might be spammers and exploiters out to take advantage of this devastating situation.

Save the Children

UNICEF (click donate to be taken to your country’s donation page)

Canadian Red Cross

British Red Cross

American Red Cross

CARE

Mercy Corps

The links I posted earlier are also trusted sources, and they will eventually be donating to one of these organizations.

To anyone who is wanting to go to Nepal right now to help out or thinking of sending supplies to Nepal: don’t do it unless you are a medical personnel or a professionally trained first responder going there as part of an organized team. Other volunteers will most likely be a liability and will use up vital resources that are required by the victims that are most effected by this devastating earthquake.

Don’t sent supplies because there is really no place to store them. People don’t even have homes to go to, so there really is no place to store supplies other than the designated rescue and relief stations. Instead donate to the organizations already on ground!

I understand some people will want to go and help out but wait until the initial relief efforts have been completed and then you can go help with rebuilding homes and temples and villages etc. You may need to wait for weeks or even months before it’s safe for you to go and help out.

Don't send money to Red Cross only a small precent actually goes for aid. It's pretty unreliable.

Do you have some credible sources to back up your claim? If what you say is true, can you suggest other reliable organizations (with some proof) that people can donate to that might be better than the Red Cross?

I can go on anonymous and claim to be the Queen of England, but that statement is not valid until I can prove myself. You might be right, but until you give some proof of your statement I cannot trust it. As far as I’ve seen Red Cross have been on ground since day 1 helping out with the relief efforts. I have also shared links to many other organizations (Mercy Corps, UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, International Medical Corps, Prabal Gurung’s Shikshya Foundation etc etc). I am suggesting names of organizations that I think are reliable, but it’s up to all of us to decide where we feel our money will be the most effective.

About Me

I grew up in a small town helping my parents on their farm. There I developed my love for nature and a desire to explore. Now I travel around the world photographing nature.

Interests

I love to travel. I have been everywhere, from Alaska to Zimbabwe. For every trip I keep a travel log of my adventures and capture the world as I see it.

Check out my photo gallery to get a glimpse into where I have been. And drop me a line if want to find out more. I always love to hear from fellow travelers.

Aspirations

I am looking for my next big adventure. There are still many places I want to visit and even more to which I want to return. The camera is charged up and my backpack is packed; drop me a line if you know where I should go next.
