Could you explain the ethnic grouping in Nepal please? I see a lot that look more eastern Asian and some that look more Indian. Their skin and eye color have a pretty wide range too, it's interesting so I wanted to know what influences the diverse features in Nepal. Thanks!

Nepal is very very diverse when it comes to people’s ethnicity and the way they look. There are more than 40 ethnic groups and tribes (which is crazy because Nepali is not that big). If you go up north to the Himalayas and alpine regions, you’ll see people that look more Tibetan. These people have Tibetan or Mongolian (east or central Asian) ancestry. If you go to the south to the subtropical regions, you’ll see people that look more “Indian” (there isn’t one look that describes “Indian” as India is also very vast and filled with many ethnic groups). They have Indo-Burmese (south-south east Asia) or Indo-Aryan (west/middle eastern) ancestry. And in the middle there is a mix of people. Basically Nepal has people that have very very dark skin to very light skin to anywhere in between. Big eyes and small eyes. Nepalis come in all different shapes and colors and sizes.

Take my family for example: my dad has medium-dark brown skin whereas my mom and I are very light skinned. If you see my dad and I together, you’ll be a bit confused. We fall into the Indo-Aryan ethnic group. As in we migrated from the west (Persia, Indus valley etc) hundreds of years ago.

It gets very complicated. Check out this link for more detail:

And please feel free to correct me if I’ve made any mistakes. I’m not an expert in this.

For the atman (soul) there is neither birth nor death at any time. He does not come to be, has not come to be, and will not come to be. He is unborn, eternal, undying, and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain … .The atma can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, nor burned by fire, moistened by water, nor withered by the wind. This individual atma is unbreakable and insoluble, and can be neither burned nor dried. He is everlasting, all-pervading, unchangeable, immovable, and eternally the same.

About Me

I grew up in a small town helping my parents on their farm. There I developed my love for nature and a desire to explore. Now I travel around the world photographing nature.

Interests

I love to travel. I have been everywhere, from Alaska to Zimbabwe. For every trip I keep a travel log of my adventures and capture the world as I see it.

Check out my photo gallery to get a glimpse into where I have been. And drop me a line if want to find out more. I always love to hear from fellow travelers.

Aspirations

I am looking for my next big adventure. There are still many places I want to visit and even more to which I want to return. The camera is charged up and my backpack is packed; drop me a line if you know where I should go next.
