Hey Sam, I've looked all over for anything you've written on Buddhist prayer beads, and either I can't find it or you haven't mentioned them, yet. I bought myself some prayer beads, a bracelet with 24 beads, including the "Buddha bead". Despite all my research, I still feel unsure about the best way to use them. Any advice?

They serve two purposes. The first is a means to count reptitions of your mantra. The larger “guru” bead indicated when the count starts over. The second is as a tangible reminder of your practice. Something you can touch to keep you in mind of the teachings.

I grew up in a small town helping my parents on their farm. There I developed my love for nature and a desire to explore. Now I travel around the world photographing nature.

Interests

I love to travel. I have been everywhere, from Alaska to Zimbabwe. For every trip I keep a travel log of my adventures and capture the world as I see it.
