Nepal 101 Hi guys! So here is a guide to travelling in Nepal. I was supposed to do this two weeks ago…better late than never? Sounds right. The list serves as a brief summary of places you should NOT miss (based on my experience). You might agree or disagree..that’s totally up to you. I might do a detailed description of each region sometime in the future. Also, I’d recommend you do some research on your own and not completely depend on this. I will not be held responsible for your dissatisfaction with any of the places I’ve mentioned (although I highly doubt your experience will be anything less than amazing). Kathmandu: -Swayambhunath Stupa a.k.a Monkey Temple -Patan Durbar Square + Museum (Durbar = Palace) -Bhaktapur Durbar Square + Museum -Basantapur Durbar Square (a.k.a Kathmandu Durbar Square) + Hanumandhoka + Kumari Ghar (Kumari House) [all around the same area of Kathmandu] -Boudhanath Stupa -Thamel (major tourist area filled with tourist targeted “cultural” shops, affordable hostels, restaurants, bars, hotels, climbing wall, outdoor shops…basically everything) -Pashupatinath temple (Non-Hindus not allowed inside..but you get a pretty sweet view from the outside) Nagarkot (Be sure to wake up super early in the morning to catch the mountain sunrise..it’s totally worth it..trust me) Pokhara: -Boating in Phewa Lake/Lake side hangouts (if you’re going to Pokhara, I suggest you get a place to stay in the Lake side area) -World Peace Pagoda (I suggest you take the short hike up to this place rather than going by car…the lakeside view with the mountains is well worth it) -Sarangkot Paragliding + lookout (lookout is perfect for mountain sunrises/sunsets..it’s guaranteed to take your breath away.) -ZipFlyer Nepal Zip lining -Annapurna Circuit + Base Camp trekking (There are different routes in this circuit. Some are tough while others are moderate. Pick the trail depending on your comfort/experience.) -Devi’s Falls -Mahendra Cave + Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave + Bat Cave (These are three different caves. You can pay extra to go on a guided tour deeper into some areas of the cave..I’d recommend it) Chitwan: -Sauraha jungle safari Khumbu region: -Everest Base camp/ Tengboche monastery area hike (Strenuous hike, only for the experienced hiker/climber) -Everest sky dive if you’re swimming in money (we’re talking ~$25,000 per person) -Or Everest summit. (If you take my recommendation on this one, better let me know. K Thanks)

| About MeI grew up in a small town helping my parents on their farm. There I developed my love for nature and a desire to explore. Now I travel around the world photographing nature. InterestsI love to travel. I have been everywhere, from Alaska to Zimbabwe. For every trip I keep a travel log of my adventures and capture the world as I see it. Check out my photo gallery to get a glimpse into where I have been. And drop me a line if want to find out more. I always love to hear from fellow travelers. |
I am looking for my next big adventure. There are still many places I want to visit and even more to which I want to return. The camera is charged up and my backpack is packed; drop me a line if you know where I should go next.
