Hey! Dumb question probably but do I need a trekking permit for the Annapurna Circuit if I'm a Nepali citizen (I live in Europe but my passport is Nepali)? Or is the permit really something only foreigners have to get? I really want to do the Annapurna trek but I couldn't find any information on this in the internet. Thank you! x No such thing as a dumb question :) Yes, everyone (Nepali or non-nepali) needs a permit to trek in Annapurna or Everest or any of the selected National Parks/protected areas. The only difference is there are different prices for Nepali citizens vs SAARC citizens vs other foreigners (SAARC citizens are people from SAARC countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Bhutan, Pakistan etc). It’s a lot cheaper for Nepali citizens compared to foreigners so be sure to bring in your Nepali passport or nagrikta (citizenship card) when you go to get your permit at the Nepal tourism board office in Bhrikutimandap.

| About MeI grew up in a small town helping my parents on their farm. There I developed my love for nature and a desire to explore. Now I travel around the world photographing nature. InterestsI love to travel. I have been everywhere, from Alaska to Zimbabwe. For every trip I keep a travel log of my adventures and capture the world as I see it. Check out my photo gallery to get a glimpse into where I have been. And drop me a line if want to find out more. I always love to hear from fellow travelers. |
I am looking for my next big adventure. There are still many places I want to visit and even more to which I want to return. The camera is charged up and my backpack is packed; drop me a line if you know where I should go next.
