Buddha’s arrival to Kapilvastu

After attaining enlightenment Buddha meets his father, wife and son Rahul in course of collecting alms with his fellow monks in Kapilvastu. Princess Yasodhara sends her son Rahul to ask for patrimony with Buddha. The Shakya monk responds, “The enlightening knowledge is the only possession that I can impart you with, Little one,” and instructs his fellow monk in aide to preach him with Buddha’s findings.

A Nepalese man fills balloons on the banks of the Narayani River in Nepal during Maghe Sankranti — the Nepalese equivalent of India’s Makar Sankranti. Maghe Sankranti is observed on the first day of the month of Magh in the Hindu calendar, bringing an end to the ill-omened month of Poush when all religious ceremonies are forbidden.
