“I have been selling bags and bracelets in Durbar Square for many years. When the earthquake came, my friends and I were sitting just over there. It was so scary. I saw many temples fall. Tourists helped us try to pull people out but it was so difficult. My home was OK but we were too scared to stay inside so we slept at the temple for one month. Now, there are not so many tourists so it’s hard to make enough money but I still meet my friends here for chai.”

After chatting for a while, Bhagawati bought me a cup of hot, sweet chai from a local vendor. She refused to take any money to pay for it. It wasn’t a ruse to get me to buy her bags. She simply said, “This time, I buy. Welcome to Nepal. Next time, you buy. That’s fair.”

It’s been a year today since last year’s disastrous earthquake in Nepal. Take some time today to think about all those who were affected and those 8000+ people who lost their lives in this tragedy. Relief efforts are still going on so donate to them if you’re able to do so.

About Me

I grew up in a small town helping my parents on their farm. There I developed my love for nature and a desire to explore. Now I travel around the world photographing nature.

Interests

I love to travel. I have been everywhere, from Alaska to Zimbabwe. For every trip I keep a travel log of my adventures and capture the world as I see it.

Check out my photo gallery to get a glimpse into where I have been. And drop me a line if want to find out more. I always love to hear from fellow travelers.

Aspirations

I am looking for my next big adventure. There are still many places I want to visit and even more to which I want to return. The camera is charged up and my backpack is packed; drop me a line if you know where I should go next.
