do you know if any western museums or institutions are displaying illegally acquired nepalese artwork/jewelry? excellent blog btw

Great question. Thievery of Nepalese artifacts is and has been a major problem. I’m not aware whether museums or institutions are publicly displaying any stolen Nepalese artwork/jewelry. I do know of numerous cases where Nepalese artifacts have been smuggled out of the country. These artifacts are usually sold to private collectors, so it’s harder for the FBI or Interpol to track them down. They do turn up sometimes in auctions and such, and then the authorities find them and (hopefully) return it to their respective owners.
