When Nepal’s president signed the country’s new constitution on September 20, some minority groups raised black flags in protest; #NotMyConstitution trended on social media. But for one minority group in the impoverished country of 27 million, there was a silver lining. Nepal became only the 10th country in the world to enshrine specific protections for LGBT people in its constitution.

ehat are some nepali dialects? do far western nepali understand eastern nepali without any problem?

Nepali has the following dialects: Acchami, Baitadi, Bajhangi, Bajurali (Bajura), Darjula, Doteli, Jumleli (Jumla, Singja, Sijali), Soradi (cf. Ethnologue). These dialects fall into three groups: Central, Eastern and Western

Source

As far as I’m aware people don’t have trouble understanding each other. There might be some words that are unfamiliar to someone. For example, people in eastern Nepal say “hau” fairly often. Like “Kasto ramro dekheko hau” (meaning: it looks very nice), kind of like “ho”, but I’ve never heard anyone from Central or Western region use “hau” in their sentences. So it’s just small things that people may not understand in between them but mostly I don’t think Nepali speakers have a lot of trouble understanding each other even if they speak different dialects. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

how do nepali actually eat thukpa? with sticks? and do people eat it regularly or?

I’m not sure. I always used forks but I realize that might not be how most people typically eat it. Perhaps some of my followers will be able to answer it. I didn’t eat thukpa regularly, so I have no idea.

About Me

I grew up in a small town helping my parents on their farm. There I developed my love for nature and a desire to explore. Now I travel around the world photographing nature.

Interests

I love to travel. I have been everywhere, from Alaska to Zimbabwe. For every trip I keep a travel log of my adventures and capture the world as I see it.

Check out my photo gallery to get a glimpse into where I have been. And drop me a line if want to find out more. I always love to hear from fellow travelers.

Aspirations

I am looking for my next big adventure. There are still many places I want to visit and even more to which I want to return. The camera is charged up and my backpack is packed; drop me a line if you know where I should go next.
